Deborah Ross read an Olympia-based newspaper and ran across an advertisement seeking information about a runaway named John Schneider. She was intrigued. Her research led to the story of the Schneider family and their journey from Europe to Washington Territory. Her two fact-based novels, Konrad and Albertina, and Tales from Schneider’s Creek, follow three generations of Schneiders and describe their impact on the area and beyond.
