Pianist David Deacon Joyner: Swinging into Spring

David Deacon Joyner is a professor of music at Pacific Lutheran University, and the Director of the University Jazz Ensemble. On this visit to Panorama he presented a delightful collection of songs about spring along with stories of the composers who wrote them. Selections include Spring is Here, It Might as Well Be Spring, Younger than Springtime, Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most, It’s Nice Weather for Ducks, April Showers, When It’s Springtime in the Rockies, Springtime on the Range, April in Paris (plus a great recitation of the lyrics of April in Fairbanks), and Memphis in June.
