Capitol Lake Flooding January 2022

Capital Lake Flooding 1/7/2022 We have all seen a lot of rain this first part of the 2022 new year. Bill Lange, Panorama resident took his camera downtown to document the flooding around Capitol Lake. The flooding was caused by high volumes of storm water from the Deschutes River that could not flow to Budd Inlet because of high tides. Bill captures the flood and the efforts by City of Olympia and the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services staffs as they dealt with the flooding while trying to keep everyone safe. Be sure to watch this short entertaining video to see how bad it got and try to imagine what sea level rise might mean to downtown Olympia.
