Mountain Goats That Fly

From 2018 to 2022, state and national agency biologists worked together to remove mountain goats from the Olympic Peninsula where they are not native and had begun to create problems for hikers and the environment. Part of this huge project involved transporting captured goats in refrigerated trucks from several Olympic Peninsula sites to locations high in the Cascade Mountains where mountain goats are native. During the summer of 2019, Panorama resident Ginger Sarver and future Panorama resident Kathy Fox volunteered with Olympic National Forest staff and other volunteers to help transport captured goats to their new home. This is the story of their 24-hour adventure with five mountain goats. Thanks to Ginger Sarver for sharing this video. First aired 11/22
